Swip and Swide and do da Butta-fwy

Look what fun $25 will bring! Do we really need a pool? The kids just seem to like getting wet... obviously, all they need is a water hose to be content!

A few weeks ago, Scott and the boys went to Target for me and came home with this. Everytime they go to the store with Scott, I say, "Try not to come home with too much extra stuff!" -- I've given up on saying "Try not to come home with ANY extra stuff!" Anyway, when they walked in Ty says, "Hey Mom, look what we found on the side of the road on our way home!" Jarett is standing behind him shaking his head really fast with a big smile on his face. How could you say "no" to that pair! Here are some pics...

Jaycee is soooo funny! Poor thing, she is getting so tall that it takes a lot to get her on the ground before the runway, runs out (and she is also the "chicken" or the most cautious of the family)! I was cracking up (and she was getting so mad at me) because she would get in line and as she got to the point where she needed to get down to slide, she would say, "Oh my goodness!" and just run through. This happened maybe twenty or so times. She finally got it though!

Not sure why boys are so facinated with showing off their butt's! Ty is slapping his butt and Jarett is pinching Ty's butt. I seriously think that this is something that occurs naturally in boys... Not sure when this would have been a learned behavior!?

I think this is the time that Jarett said, "Swip & Swide and do da Butta-Fwy" (hence the title). Translation: "Slip & Slide and do the Butterfly". He is sooo funny and loves a crowd to entertain!

Last Day of 2nd Grade!!!

The last day of 2nd Grade... It's been a good year. Jaycee made straight A's all year! Her reading has exploded and she's getting really good at Math. All the worry I had about Mr. P on the first day, quickly went away. He was great for Jaycee and he is a very good teacher.

Jaycee and the guys... Mr. P is behind her in the glasses. He's sometimes hard to find, since he blends in with the kids! Do you notice something missing from Jaycee's face? Yes!? Her glasses! She got contacts the previous afternoon and begged to wear them on the last day of school. All went well. Doesn't she look so grown-up? Here are some more pics...

This was a relay race they did where they had to run with a swimming pool noodle between their legs. It looked fun and was funny to watch.

This was pretty neat and I plan on stealing the idea for a future party! :) All the kids linked hands in a circle and had to get through the Hoola-Hoop without breaking the circle.

Spring 2009 Piano Recital

Jaycee did so good with her Piano this year. She competed in 4 Festivals and 2 Recitals throughout the year. I can't believe she can play as well as she can! It seems like she just started lessons, but it was 2 years ago this Summer. This year she got a 1+ at the Spring Jazz & Pop Festival which earned her a trophy when she played Rockin' Robin. She also got a 91% on her Theory Test and since she competed in 4 Festivals and earned a 1 or higher, she received another trophy! We are very proud of her and all the hard work she put into Piano this year.

At the end of April, Scott and a few of our friends took the girls out of school early to go to a Daddy Daughter Ranger Game! They got to the game a few hours early so that they could tailgate and grill hamburgers and hotdogs. They had fun hanging out in the parking lot with their Dad's. All of the girls brought their gloves, because they all wanted to catch a pop-fly, so they played catch while waiting for the game to start. The Ranger's lost, but everyone had fun! When the game was over, I got a call from Scott saying, "Turn on Fox Southwest!". I did, and there they were -- on T.V.!

We drove to Cabot, AR for Softball 8U Nationals Over Memorial Day Weekend. The weekend started off so good! The girls were so excited. The night before we left Coach Melodie gave each of the girls a "goodie bag" to take to AR that all the Mom's had contributed to. They got Lady Shock Flip-Flops, necklaces, bracelets, pens and a CD with all of their songs on it. The CD was really cool... each girl sent Coach Mel their song and she put all of them on a CD in jersey number order. Most of the songs were from Taylor Swift or Miley Cirus -- imagine that with a group of 8 & 9 year old girls! Jaycee and I had gone to i-tunes and searched "baseball songs". She liked, "Hit me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benetar. Her song was actually a hit... the girls were singing it all weekend!

On Saturday morning we had the Opening Ceremonies and Pin Exchange. The girls have pins with their team logo's on them and they trade with the girls on other teams. It's really neat. Jaycee now has pins from OK, AR and TX teams.

The Pool Games started early because they were afraid some rain might start. There was a 20% chance. We did pretty good; lost one, won one. We should have won both of our games though. We were done for the night.

The next morning we woke up to 70% chance of rain in the a.m. But, as the day went on... the rain did not stop! It turned into a low pressure system that just kept circling around Little Rock. Uggh! The girls were having a ball - it was like having a 3 day long slumber party. But, the parents were frustrated. It stunk that we didn't get to play when we had come so far. Not to mention all the money wasted when we had worked so hard on fundraising to go...

They finally cancelled the Tournament early Monday morning. We ended up in 4th place, but had we got to play, I think we would have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd. The trip home was good. No rain outside of AR... :)

The best part of the whole trip was getting to spend so much time with Jaycee. The boys had gone to Granny & Grandad's, so Scott and I got her all to ourselves. We don't get to do this very often, so it was fun to spoil her a little. She talked our ears off! We found out she "loved" two boys, who her best friends were, all about things going on at school and that she still thinks Scott and I are pretty cool.

Even though it was cold, they couldn't wait to get in the pool!

Jarett's Garden

We planted a Garden this year and Jarett & I love it! Every morning we go out and see what is growing and if there is anything that is ready to pick. Yesterday, we saw some squash, but I figured it wouldn't be ready until later in the week. When we we went out to check this morning it had grown sooo much just overnight. One of the squash was about 12 inches long! Jarett was so excited when I told him. He got dressed and came out with his hat and gloves on saying, "Come on Mom, let's go pick some cosh (squash)". Catching Up...

Today was the last day of school. Tomorrow we are sleeping in, making pancakes and bacon and planning our Summer fun. One thing I am going to do this Summer is get this blog going again! My camera broke last October, so I got about a month behind. Then, life happened and I was determined to put Oct-Dec on the Blog in January -- who has anything going on in January?? Now we are in June... So, now I have finally decided that I'm not going back. It's been 8 months... ughh!? Really? Beginning this week, I'm going forward (or that is the plan!). Stay tuned for Summer Fun 2009!
